Castles In The Sky

“Will a man rob God?” -Malachi 3:8

It’s a simple question.

In a previous blog, “Humility or Humiliation, The Choice Is Mine”, I said, “If there was only one piece of advice I could give to young men, it would be…Humble Yourself (Or God will do it for you).

The 2nd piece of advice I would give is: “Answer the question. Will a man rob God?”

Trust me, this advice comes from a man who answered this question wrong for 2/3 of my life! So I know where you’re coming from. But I also have tasted, what a life could be…If God’s question is answered correctly!

If we’re honest with ourselves, the answer is obvious…of course we CAN’T rob God.

So, why do we live our lives as if we think we CAN? We build on earth our “castles in the sky”, hoping we’re going to take it with us…”In the sweet by and by”.

We ONLY rob ourselves.

In Malachi, God answered a question with a question. God first pleaded, “Return to Me and I will return to you.” And the people responded, “How are we to return to You?” God answered, “Will a man rob God?…” That was an unusual answer, but revealing!

In essence, God was saying, “To return back to Him, (to His Favor, Mercy, Blessings, Wisdom, and Companionship)…they needed to Honor Him with their wealth.”

Does God need money? Again, silly question. The money was to help others: the poor, the orphaned, the widows….our neighbor.

Matthew 6:19,20 “…Store up for yourselves treasures in Heaven….Where your Treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

So, what I’ve come to learn in this last 1/3 of my life is: If I store up Treasure in Heaven, He allows my heart to enjoy the True Treasures of earth.

To Give, is To Receive.
