A Hidden Doorway
On Feb. 28, 2017 I had a dream, Rachelle and I were walking, at night, up to a house I used to live in. We had a knowing it was vacant, as we approached the front door. It was locked, but I remembered there was a hidden doorway, low to the ground, and behind some ivy. We used the flashlights of our cell phones, and pushed away the ivy to uncover a small door (like those used for crawl spaces). We both had to get down on our knees (and elbows), in order to pass through the opening. But once we were inside, it opened up to a part of the house I had NEVER used. It had been boarded up, bricked up, dry walled over, so that the part I had lived in (in the center) was much smaller than the actual original house.
As we walked around using our flashlights, we realized this was the most treasured part of the whole house, with high vaulted ceilings, carved beams & moldings, fireplaces in every room, beautiful solid oak floors & ornate chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Though everything was covered in cobwebs, it was still truly the “Castle House”neighbors used to call it. I had never known this part existed. We had always just lived in the inside center part, never realizing the best part of the house was all around us.
Later that week, I told this dream to an older woman, who was spiritual and believed some dreams had meanings. As I finished telling her, she looked to the ceiling and said, “He has no idea You’re about to knock down his walls to reveal the treasures he has had ALL along.” Then she looked at me, with total confidence, and said, “Tom, I would take this seriously.”
Seeing the look in her eyes…I did.
When I told Rachelle what the old woman said, we went over the dream many times, step by step, and realized the crucial component was we had to get very low, on our knees and elbows to pass through the hidden doorway.
We both said at the same time, “Humility and Prayer”.
Our life experiences for the last 10 years (our trials and perseverance) had produced in us an understanding that without God’s help…we could do Nothing.
Though I was the one who had the dream…I believe with ALL my heart, it’s meaning is for Everyone. God reveals “doors” in all of our lives; decisions that could be life changing. They are hidden rooms ALL around us, waiting for the right moment (when we are ready) to be shown to us….treasures we have had all along. Ideas and opportunities that are just a room away.
But these hidden doorways, I also believe with ALL my heart (knowing now the blessings on the other side of trials and perseverance), are only passed through on our knees and elbows….
….with Humility and Prayer.
