Weighs of a Warrior
“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the hearts.” Proverbs 21:2
The “Way of The Warrior” is characterized by a set of ethical and moral principles. These core tenets include courage, compassion, respect, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to doing what is right and just…no matter the personal cost.
I believe there’s a Warrior, (a hero) in all of us, and the Lord weighs the heart, for the right opportunity for that hero in us to become known.
When we hear the name Jonah, most often the image of a man running away from God, and being swallowed by a big fish, comes to mind. Not often is Jonah thought of as a hero.
…But the Lord weighs the hearts…
God had a calling for Jonah, and a compassion for him that most of us would not have given him…I know I wouldn’t have.
Then they said to him, “What shall we do to you, that the sea may be calm for us?” -for the sea was growing more tempestuous- Then he said to them, “Pick me up and throw me into the sea, and the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest is because of me.” Jonah 1:11,12
…and the Way of the Warrior appeared.
I don’t know if I could have given up my life for others, for strangers, as Jonah did. He didn’t know a fish was going to save him. But he knew the others would be harmed…if he stood by and did nothing.
And in that one act of heroism, ALL the men on the ship…gave their lives to God.
The Weighs of a Warrior…
Forgive me Lord, for the ways my eyes saw Jonah.
I only saw a coward, but You saw the Hero in him…
…The Warrior.
