The Stones That Still Remain
“Whenever I take her on a drive through the countryside, she always wants to end it by driving along the length of our property. And when we do, she says, ‘Now, drive slow’. Most often, no matter what the temperature is outside, she’ll roll her window down and lean out just enough to smell the air, as we pass the trees and flowers we planted beside the stones she placed.
I’ve often wondered why she loves doing this so much? What is it she smells that gives her so much Joy and Contentment?
I realize now,
she’s smelling….Gratitude.”
-from His Love Letters
“Though the oceans of our troubles rise to steal what we became, I remember the years we built together, to be the stones that still remain.”
