Hidden In Plain Sight

Rachelle and I love to stop whenever we see an old country roadside antique store. There’s just something special about walking between old furniture, chairs, trunks, and lamps, that have been in others homes for hundreds of years. Sometimes I sense a kindred spirit as I walk by them.

When we enter, we always go in different directions and say to each other, “Let’s see who finds the “Czar” first!” Something that is treasured, but hidden in plain sight, we call a “Czar”. Czar was my favorite dog. The first time her and I met him was at an animal rescue. We actually weren’t even really looking for a dog, but were driving by so we thought we’d stop. When Czar and I first looked at each other, it was as if we had known each other. Rachelle didn’t feel the same way. She later told me, the only reason she went along with getting him was because she could tell I was so intrigued by him. He was a mix of Russian Wolf Hound and German Shepherd. We had him for about 10 years. During those years, Rachelle would often confess, “Boy, am I glad you saw something in Czar to get him, because I sure missed that one! He IS a Treasure.”

I truly believe that many of Life’s Treasures are like Czar. They often come in the form of a person, or circumstance…or maybe sometimes a dog. But they’re ALWAYS a Gift.

So, thanks to Czar, I’ve learned to walk through each day, like it’s a roadside antique store. With each new person, or circumstance, as a valuable treasure…

Hidden in Plain Sight.
