A Fragrant Incense

“May my prayers be set before You like burning incense; may the lifting of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.” Psalm 141:2

Few images invoke my Thankfulness to God more, than an early morning fog rising from the warmth of a pond, in the cool of the day.

No matter what is going on in my physical life, the image of my prayers rising like a fog from the warmth of my heart, in my intimate hours before dawn…brings me to a place of Trust, that He is the Protector of my approaching day.

I wish I could say I lived my whole life within this “place”, a Thankfulness to God. But I didn’t. Like the prodigal son, I didn’t come to my senses, until I was eating with the pigs.

My life is but a vapor, a mist that is soon gone. But, if my whole life was summed up by the remembrance of this rising fog…it would not have been a wasted life,

but a Fragrant Incense.
